Paul started playing drums on his mother’s saucepans in 1968! She was not very impresssed and so after a while he bought his first kit, a Bitsa (Bits of this bits of that!) from the world famous Chris Stevens Music Centre in Southend.

After messing about in various local bands, he joined the legendary Lawrence Brothers Band in 1974 who regularly played at the old Queens Hotel in Southend, supporting such luminaries as the Diamond Jack Band and the Micky Jupp Band. A frantic few years followed, playing in different bands, often at the same time!! The musical direction ranged from rock to punk and from folk to funk.

There then followed a period of complete percussive inactivity, to the relief of everybody in Essex!

In late 1999 he was approached by an old friend, Alan Jones, to appear in a band supporting Edwin Starr at the Brighton Metropole. (they couldn’t get anyone else who would do it!) After the gig, Alan told of his plans to put together a Beach Boys tribute band. Paul accepted and the rest as they sayÉÉÉÉ

Paul uses a Pearl Export kit with Paiste Formula 602 Sound Edge Hi Hats, Zildjan 17" and 18" Crash Cymbals, Zildjan 18" ride, Super Zyn 16" sizzle, Zildjan 12" splash and a big old Bosphorus 21" ride.
